About Us
The Story Is Just Unfolding
Established in 2021, Genome Genius emerged with a singular vision: to democratize access to advanced sciences for children of all backgrounds and regions, focusing on the genome and genetic engineering as a branching point. Comprised of a dedicated team of scientists, educators, and advocates, our combined expertise fuels our commitment to bridging the knowledge gap in this rapidly evolving field.
At GenomeGenius, we uphold the tenet that understanding our genetic blueprint should not be a privilege, but a right. Every initiative we undertake is meticulously designed to ensure comprehensive and cutting-edge education in genetics, biotechnology, and the ethical considerations inherent to them. By collaborating with schools, communities, and industry leaders, we aim to spark curiosity and foster a new generation of genetic pioneers.
Our journey has just begun, and the road ahead is filled with promise and discovery. We invite you to journey with us — as an educator, supporter, or student — and shape the genomic leaders of tomorrow.
Meet Morgan Burns - Founder and CEO
Morgan Burns has distinguished herself not only through her academic success but by making a significant impact from a young age. As a freshman at the STEM-focused The Grayson School, she excelled in gene editing using tools like CRISPR, fueled by the school's supportive academic environment. Struck by the unequal access to advanced STEM education, Morgan launched GenomeGenius in 2022 to bring these opportunities to underserved students, sharing her fascination with genetic engineering.
GenomeGenius, under Morgan’s leadership, aims to level the playing field in STEM, offering mentorship and practical experience in genetic engineering. She continues to aim to transform STEM education, highlighting that with the proper resources, today’s gifted students can become tomorrow’s innovators, making a better world within reach. Morgan is now studying biochemistry at the Georgia Institute of Technology, but continues to expand Genome Genius as she continues her own academic story.
